Change Over The Years

Thank you for all of your kind comments on the progression of the house.  I can't tell you how excited I am and I can't wait to show you all the finished product.

I just realized today that when I started this blog, 2 1/2 years ago, I was at such a different place in my life.  I was planning my wedding, starting a new job (not the one I currently have) and moving into our first home.  A lot has happened in less than 3 years.  Although it hasn't all been easy or wonderful, I can honestly sit back and say how blessed I truly am.  Never in a million years would I imagine we would be where we are at right now.  I think to myself, if all of this can happen in less than 5 years of being married to this man, just think of where our lives will take us in 10 years from now.  It's a crazy, euphoric ride and I'm all in!

I had a little extra time this morning before I had to be at a school to present, so I was able to sleep in just a bit.

I thought I was giving myself a break with the workout this morning by doing Sean T's Insane Cardio Abs because as soon as I turned it on, I noticed it was only 17 min long.  How bad can this be?  I thought.

There is a reason it's only 17 min and that is purely for the fact that one could not last any longer with this workout.  KILLER!!!!!!  It didn't help that I hurt my lower back somewhere along the workout lines last week (perhaps in Body Pump?).  Nothing significant, I'm just feeling a bit sore back there.  I felt the pain (good pain) in my abs all day.  I even felt it during my run tonight.  Nothing beats a good ab workout.  Bravo Sean T!

Breakfast was rather simple for me.

Kashi Go Lean, Kumquat Puffs, Berries, Banana, Vanilla Almond Milk

I rarely just have cereal because I know I need to have some source of protein at breakfast to feel any kind of substance.  But I was really just craving a simple bowl today.  The protein came with the cottage cheese.

Before my addiction to Greek Yogurt, Toast with Cottage Cheese and a bowl of cereal would be my breakfast every day.  Sometimes, it's good to go old school.  I liked this just as much as I used to.

After some presentations, I made it back into the office around lunch time.

Leftover Salmon on a Salad with Kale, Broccoli, Peppers, Mushrooms, Hummus and a side of Naan

On the side, I enjoyed a Strawberry Chobani with some pretty fantastic granola.

A new friend of mine, Sarah owns her own Granola company, Nuts About Granola. You may remember I reviewed a sample of this a few weeks ago.  Since then, we've connected and found out how much we have in common.  Not only do we share a valid love for granola, but also good food in general.  We are both vegetarians, runners, and passionate foodies for locally grown and purchased foods in our area.

Anyways, Sarah and I are working on getting her products to some stores in my town.  Even though their products are only available in stores here in PA, you can always purchase any of their products online.  I highly urge you to go check out their website to find some unique and ultimately fantastic granola.

Sarah was so sweet to give me a sample of some of their new Valentines Day line.

I tried the Date Food today.  A nutty mixture of sweet vanilla, almond and dates.  It was delicious!!

After work and in route to the gym, I enjoyed a SuperCharge Me cookie for some pre workout fuel.  These seriously make the best fuel for before a workout.  Or just anytime of day.  So yummy!!

It took a lot longer than normal to get home tonight.  Traffic was intense and I ended up staying a little longer at the gym.  The weather is supposed to be pretty nasty tomorrow and Wednesday so I wasn't sure when I would have a chance to run again and I wanted to get a substantial one in this week.

I was very happy to come home to my dad asking if we had dinner plans.  He had made homemade pizza and salad which just happens to be one of my favorite dinners.

He even made one side "Lauren Friendly"- Veggies and Cheeseless.

I had this plate x 2!  So good!

Question Time!

Where were you in your life 3 years ago?  Has much changed?  Where do you see yourself in 5 years from now?

  1. I'm SO with you! I started my blog almost three years ago and was in a totally different place! I worked for a different company and lived in MD in our first home. I'm so happy with all of the amazing things that have happened to us over these three years. Delicious eats. I LOVE cereal but rarely eat it too....it never seems to fill me up. The dinner looks great! Now I'm craving pizza ;) Hope the rest of your week is wonderful :)

  2. Ah, yes! Three years ago I was doing all the crazy stuff that needed to get done to open the studio, Seth and I had just went on two dates, I still lived at home, and Prince Caspian wasn't even born.

Now I am a happily married owner of a thriving and successful dance studio, mommy to a beautiful cat, and have my own place, haha. ;0

  3. I was in such a different place 3 years ago. During this time the Husband and I (where were only dating at the time) were on a hiatus from each other. It was truly the best thing that ever happened to us because we came to truly appreciate each other and know without a doubt we couldn't live without each other. I was away at school too and living i tup with my best friends. A lot has changed!!!

  6. Wow! 3 years ago I had just moved to Florida, started a masters degree, and was loving life. Now I'm living in Tucson, Arizona. I've got my masters, but am working on a doctorate. I'm still adjusting to Arizona, but I'm appreciating its unique qualities. In 5 years - who knows! Maybe I'll run the world! ; )

  8. Three years ago, my husband and I just got engaged and we were going through him losing his childhood home to a fire. I changed jobs and traveled to Europe for 2 weeks. Things have definitely changed since getting married, but I couldn't be happier with where my life is right now. :-)

    Pizza looks amazing btw!

  9. You've been blogging for 2.5 years already?! I had no idea- you're a seasoned pro!!

Three years ago was one of the most difficult years of my life, but it's also the time when I learned the most. And in another three years I hope to have more of a direction in life- I have no clue what I want to do as a career right now!!

  11. It's AMAZING to think about how much we accomplish each year, each week, even each day! It often seems like each task is completely overwhelming and insurmountable, but then we look back and can totally revel in it. Congratulations on these past three years!

Three years ago today, I was studying abroad in Paris!
