Good Food and Good Luck

Last night, Toly and I treated ourselves to a wonderful night out.  There is a seafood restaurant that we've only been to a few time but both absolutely love and have been trying to go back to for quite so time now.  The place is always booked on the weekends so we finally remembered to make a reservation  a week ahead of time.

The wine list was massive and offered wine flutes and sampling sizes which was perfect for us.  We ordered a sample of a Malbec and a Reisling to share.

The sampling was a 3oz pour and a perfect amount to accompany dinner.  I wish more places offered this because I often find that just 1/2 a glass is all I need to assist the flavor of my meal.

To start, I chose the Roasted Beet and Bear salad.  I was actually expecting this to be more of a salad and not a small bite appetizer, but I was pleasantly surprised at how it was plated.  Beautiful presentation and not overpowering.  A great way to start the meal.

For my entree there were a few items I was going back and forth between but my decision was made when I realized that Opah is a rarity around here.  I chose the Macadamia Encrusted Opah served over a bed of organic maple roasted root vegetables and berries with an orange bur blanc sauce (I had them put this on the side).

Toly's meal was equally impressive.  He went wit the Mixed Seafood Grill- an assortment of Grilled Salmon, Shrimp and Scallops, Jumbo Lump Crab Cake served with yukon gold mashed potatoes and Lobster Mac and Cheese.

Both meals were fantastic and wonderfully prepared.  When the dessert cards came out, I had a hard time choosing once again, but we finally went with the Warm Apple Ginger Cake served with a Pistachio Brittle.

And a cappuccino.  It's funny, whenever I am out at a nice restaurant, I always order a cappuccino over coffee with dessert.  I think it just compliments the dessert so much nicer than a plain cup of coffee. I consider this a dessert wine.

After a fantastic meal, we continued our date night to The Hollywood Casino.  This full casino recently opened and it has been a source of attraction ever since.  Even though gambling isn't really my thing, I do always enjoy blowing a few bucks on the slots.

Such a fun date night!

Today, I'm off to Body Pump in the morning and then we are taking our nephew to see Santa this afternoon.  Should be another wonderful day!

This restaurant looks AMAZING. You made me smile when you talked about ordering a cappachino (I'm going to do this next time). Thank you so much for sharing! Have a good Sunday afternoon.
