Nothing But Time

So, the weekend has been superb!  I know I say this all the time, but there is nothing like a weekend with no plans and no schedules.  After slaving to my calendar all week, sometimes 2 days of nothing is just what I need.

Saturday morning, I enjoyed a beautiful run outside.  I love running outdoors on the weekends and it's the only chance I get to enjoy it.  Since I run super early (when it's still dark) I opt for the treadmill during the week.  But now that the weather is nice, I can finally get in some nice long runs on Saturdays again.

Breakfast did not do a good job at cooling me off, but it was exactly what I wanted.

Blueberry Cheesecake Oats

1/4 Cup Scottish Oats, 1/4 Cup Almond Milk, 1/4 Cup Water, Chia, Flax, 1/2 frozen/thawed banana(mashed), 1/4 Cup Cottage Cheese (stirred in at end)
Toppings: Blueberries, Pecans, Vanilla AB, Blueberry Jam

I picked up my friend shortly after this and we happily headed to the Farmers Market.  Harrisburg has a great market in the city, but I haven't been there yet this year.

The produce was bountiful and Audi and I had no problems filling up our baskets.

I came across a horseradish root that I found extremely amusing! I'll let you use your imagination on this one!

Yes, I may be immature, but come on, it's pretty funny!

Anyways, after the market, I ran a few errands and came home for lunch.

Green Smoothie in my favorite cup!

Smoked Salmon on WW Bagel Thin (veggie cream cheese, sprouts, dijon, and capers) with a large carrot

Not having any plans for the rest of the afternoon, I decided to put on my bathing suit and play outside.

It was quite lovely.  I was able to tan, garden, and work on some things for work.

When Toly got home, we didn't really have any plans for dinner since our previous ones were cancelled.  We contemplated grilling out, but storm clouds were against us in that idea.

I got the idea to head out for sushi.

It was a good idea.

What also seemed like a good idea was brining along a bottle TJ's 3 buck chuck that I have been dying to try.  I've heard so much about it, but have not been able to find it because of PA/MD liquor license.  Luckily, when we were in Cleveland last weekend, I was able to buy a few bottles.

I was quite impressed.  For a $3 bottle of Shiraz, this was good!  Actually, it was so good that I somehow ended up drinking 1/2 the bottle and before I knew it, I was one happy girl.

Let's just say Toly had a good time with it.  I also thought it would be a good idea to call my parents and have them meet us for ice cream on the way home.

And then I thought it would be an even better idea to down an entire waffle cone of Butter Pecan Custard.

Good idea at the time, but my stomach did not seem to think so a few hours later.  :(

I woke up this morning craving water and something fresh for breakfast.

Fruit and yogurt sounded perfect!

And because I was particularly hungry (why does that always seem to happen after a night of drinking?) I toasted a piece of raisin bread with mashed banana and PB.

Nothing was really planned for today either, expect a MUCH needed grocery shopping trip.

When I got back, I made lunch for me and Toly.

Quite impressive egg sammie for Toly….

Scrambled Egg over roasted asparagus on Whole Grain Toast for me.

For all of you who have been digging the jam on eggs, I am so proud!  I told you it was awesome!

Again, with nothing on the agenda, I had the entire afternoon to do whatever I pleased.

A little prepping for the week, baking (crazy I know), a long walk with Sammy, and some more sun bathing and I was completely engaged in a relaxing Sunday.

Dinner tonight was a treat.  Toly is going away next week for business, so I wanted to be sure he had a nice home cooked farewell dinner to see him off.

Tonight, we fired up the grill and had a Grilled Feast!

When I was at the market, I picked up a nice NY Strip for Toly (his favorite).  He was so excited to grill it up with some more of his favorites along side.

We grilled everything!  The meat, the veggies, and even the salad.

Mine was a grilled tuna steak over grilled romaine, grilled veggies and goat cheese.

This was the best corn yet!  Not quite local yet, but definitely summer quality.

So good!

And that concludes my weekend of bliss.  Off to start another jam packed week!

How was your weekend?

  8. $3 Shiraz sounds amazing...I'm with you on the PA liquor laws, it's such a bummer that our TJ's can't carry wine!! I'm always super hungry after drinking too, and I always crave carbs + fruit...looks like we have that in common :) Hope you have a wonderful Monday love!!

  12. Oh my goodness I loved reading your relaxing weekend recap. I love lounging around in a bathing suit. Heck, I'll put one on to go lay in the sun and I'll end up wearing it around the house for the rest of the day. Yes, I cook in a bathing suit ;) Mwahaha! Anywho, you've inspired me to grill. I lifted the hood up on ours the other day and I don't know the first thing about grilling but I really want to learn. I'm going to ask my dad about it as soon as I'm done writing out this comment hehehe. OH! And that horseradish root is funny!! Please don't ever lose that sense of humor of yours :D It makes life better. Also, if you have any more bottles of the 3 Buck Chuck you should make a delicious sangria--I know you love your fruit! Today when I was cutting up a papaya I was wishing I could send one to you because they seriously are the best I've ever had (we have a freak of nature tree I think.. or miracle tree because it produces so much and it's actually taller than what they're suppose to be). But yeah I know you'd appreciate it :) Or how about.. you just come down here?! Teach me to grill and we can sit in the sun and have fresh papaya all day long lol.

    XOXO

p.s. I loved your response to the anon comment. People are so quick to just assume things based on the way someone lucks. Sometimes it's true and sometimes it's not. I think it's an important reminder that everyone is different and that you can't simply judge a book by it's cover :) Plus, that's no fun because then you don't get a chance to actually get to know people!
