"I Have a Dream"

This is going to sound entirely ignorant, but I had no idea that it was MLK day until this morning.  I knew it was a government holiday and I knew I had off work, but I was thinking it was President's Day. Opps.

Regardless of my obliviousness, I do fully appreciate everything MLK did for this nation and pay full respect to his life.  A moment of silence was had in my car on the way to meet my dad and sister for our Father/Daughter breakfast.

We haven't had one in a long time so this breakfast was long overdue.  We all met at only the very best breakfast place on this planet, The Hershey Pantry.

The hardest decision I have here is figuring out what fruit topping I want on my baked oatmeal.  It's very very rare that I come here and bypass the baked oatmeal, after all, I do believe it ranks as one of the top 3 best things I've ever eaten.

Today, I went with banana on the side.

Along with a side of fruit.

Thought I would show you some of the other notable dishes at The Pantry because everything there really is so delicious.
My sister's eggs, bacon and homefries

 My Dad's Pancakes

This tradition we have is one that we all hope to continue for life.  It's really a special time for the three of us.

After breakfast I went right to the gym.  I was particularly excited to test out my new sneakers I bought yesterday and hopped right on the treadmill to break them in.  I am sooo satisfied with my purchase.  The new Asics are fantastic and I ran 7 comfortable miles to give them some good ware.  They will be great for this race season.

I hurried home to shower and then my dad and I set out for Trader Joes.  The trip is about an hour away and by the time we got to Towson, it was going on 2pm.  Even though I wasn't noticeably hungry, we both figured we should probably stop to eat a little something before risking entering trader joes and becoming famished.  That usually results in a $300 TJ's receipt.  (I speak from experience)

Luckily, I remembered there was a Chipotle a few miles down the road.  I use to go to school at Towson and had eaten at this Chipotle many times.  It felt like home to be back.  (At Chipotle, not Towson)

My Salad had Black Beans, Veggies, Salsa and Guac.  Perfection in a cardboard bowl.

A great little filler-up before our stock up trip.  I've been doing well at picking out the essentials while I'm there and usually come out with a few new things.

For example, this is one I've been wanting to try for some time.

With full bellies and full hearts, we left Towson with our loot and headed back home.

Before home, we made a pit stop at my future home so that I could show my dad.

(PS- The room he is standing in would be my closet.  Yes, it's the size of a small bedroom and no, I have no intentions of sharing with Toly.  He will have his own little walk-in.)

By the time we actually got home and put everything away it was time to think about dinner.  I knew I had the rest of the pizza to eat so I pretty much made an exact replica of last night's dinner but changed up the salad a bit.

Now I'm enjoying the last few hours of this nice long weekend before mentally preparing for another work week.

Did you know it was MLK Day today? Did you have the day off?

  2. The only reason I knew it was MLK day was because my gym had limited hours! Isn't that horrible? I think when you're not in elementary school and don't have assemblies and days off and activities surrounding it, you just don't always know. I still had to work!

Your breakfast looked so yummy, but your closet is what truly caught my eye! Wow! I can't believe your house is almost done. Thank you for sharing another great post. 10. I've never had baked oatmeal before. Sounds great though. You are the second person I've seen tonight during my blog reading with that salad from Chipotle! One of these days I will find a Chipotle and see what all the fuss is about!

    Wow! Whatta closet! Awesome!

I did know it was MLK day and I had the day off, but only because I requested it...taking a mini-vacay to de-stress!

  12. Baked oatmeal looks amazing! I love Chipotle! I think it is so wonderful that you, your sister and your dad all get together and spend time together! I would absolutely love that with my sister and my dad. Unfortunately, my sister and I don't have a very good relationship with our dad. I hope one day that we can start a tradition like that. It's so cute :)

  13. The only reason I knew was because my kids didn't have school, and even then I thought it was just for an in-service day at first.

Going in to TJ's hungry is never a good idea for the wallet!!!
