The Next Iron Foodie

When I got the email from Foodbuzz announcing it has partnered with Marx Foods for this month's Iron Foodie Challenge, I was immediately on board! 25 Challenges, 25 Recipes, 3 Secret Ingredients, 1 Grand Prize Winner!

Iron Foodie 2010 | Here's Why that will be me:
MarxFoods.com -- Fine Bulk Foods The Foodie BlogRoll

I am hoping my initial entry is enough to qualify me as a contestant because the preliminaries are to answer the questions below…

1. Why do you want to compete in this challenge?

If there is one legacy I wish to leave in this lifetime, it is to be known for inspiring someone else through one of my passions.  By completing this challenge, I feel as though I could stimulate the culinary culture with my distinct originality by creating an innovative dish unlike no other.

2. Limitations of time/space notwithstanding, whose kitchen would you like to spend the day in & why? Julia Child, Thomas Keller, Ferran Adria, James Beard, Marie-Antoine Careme, or The Swedish Chef?

I am just going to be honest, I don’t know who any of these famous chef’s are with the expectation of Ms. Child.  I find that, unlike literature, I tend not to gravitate towards the deceased legends when it comes to cooking.  My exception, and for the purpose of this question would be Julia Child because I distinctly remember being fully engaged in her cooking show as a child.  Not many children my age were running home from pre-school to watch The French Chef with their dad’s.
I can’t say I have had much experience with French cooking, but that is precisely why I would be fascinated to be submerged in the surroundings of the epitome of cheese and red wine.  Bon Apetite!

3. What morsel are you most likely to swipe from family & friends’ plates when they aren’t looking?

I wish I could make this sound more exciting but the truth is vegetables.  Particularly, lightly seasoned roasted asparagus.

4.  Sum your childhood up in one meal.

Chicken n’ Waffles.  A bit unordinary, savory but sweet, not always understood but widely accepted, and covered in unending amounts of love.

     5. The one mainstream food you can’t stand?

       Bacon

I'm crossing my fingers for this one.  Not only do Marx Products look incredible and I would be beyond thrilled to play around with them in my kitchen, but I also need something to work on right now.  Something that keeps my mind occupied and engaged that will hopefully alleviate some of the stress I am having these days.
Wish me luck!!
