A Day of Showers

To say it rained today would be an understatement.

It more or less was a mini hurricane.

They say we need it, but I'm still entirely against grey skies and annoying wet drops falling from the sky.  All sun for this girl!!

I woke up today very ready and excited to use the repaired treadmill at the gym. I had every intention of finally getting in a good solid run in the morning.  Apparently, my intentions were not meant to turn into my reality because what do you know, the treadmill was not actually fixed.  Such a tease!!

I got in just around 2 miles before it shut off.  Errrrr, frustrated, I walked back in the rain and took it out on ET.

Breakfast always calms me down though.

1/4 Cup Total Raisin Bran, 1/4 Cup Oatmeal Squares, 1/2 Banana, Blueberries, Pineapple Chobani, Mighty Maple, Small nub of Pumpkin Cornbread

The pumpkin cornbread was such a pleasant addition!

It was a fun day at work today.  I threw my friend and co-worker a surprise wedding shower that I have been planning with our department for a few weeks now.

Catered spread…...

 The bride acting very surprised!

The boys even came, but all admitted this was the first "shower" they had ever been to.  I assured them it was completely acceptable to attend a co-ed shower.

A few of my co-workers…..

Me and Audi (the bride)

It turned out to be a very successful party! Audi was so surprised and very grateful.  The girl is getting married in 3 weeks, so she has been a bit overwhelmed at work and rightfully so.  This was just what she needed to kick back and enjoy the last few weeks before the big day!

After work, I went to the big gym where I knew I would be able to get in a sure-bet run.  I did 3 miles to bring my total daily mileage to 5.  Not my favorite to break it up like this, but whatever, it's still running.

After this, I took my favorite class ever.  Body Combat!  I would really like to teach this class someday!

For some reason, my stomach was acting off all afternoon.  I'm wondering if it was something I ate at the party.  Maybe there was some hidden ingredient in the pre-made food that didn't sit well with me?  Not sure, but it caused me to cut out of class a few minutes early.

I got home and couldn't tell how hungry I was.  I knew I needed to eat though so I heated up the last of my Feels Like Fall Quinoa Salad on a bed of spinach. There was just a little left but it seemed like the perfect amount.  I also had a hunk of fresh Apple Bread with Apple Cran Chutney.

Since there was a small portion of the quinoa, I decided to add some volume to this dinner by roasting 1/2 of a Kabocha squash for fries.
Would you believe me if I told you I like Squash Fries more than French Fries?   It's true, I wouldn't lie to you about this!!

Good thing I decided to eat because as soon as I started, I realized just how hungry I really was.

That should be the last of my leftovers this week, so you should be seeing new things tomorrow.

  4. I wish we had a little more rain down here in Austin...but I do get sick of the downpours pretty quickly! It looks like the event turned out wonderfully. Great friends/coworkers, good food and a lovely celebration honoring a special person. I hope you have a great Friday!
