Vegas Bound

Why hello weekend!  How in the world did we get to the weekend already?  Am I complaining? Of course not!  It has just been one incredibly crazy week.  I have a bit of catching up to do….

Friday morning are my "rest" days from running, so it started with some cross training on the ET, followed by Jillian Michael's NMTZ.  Love this workout by the way.

I celebrated my favorite day of the week with Waffle Friday.

2 MultiGrain Vans Waffles (these are a new buy and they are AWESOME), POM Chobani, Berries, Granola, Maple Agave

Having waffles on a Friday morning makes me so happy.  You should try it and see if it has the same effect.  I bet it will!

For times sake, lets just skip right to lunch on Friday.

I heated up my leftover pizza from dinner on Thursday night.

Pizza Grill- Spinach and Artichoke, no cheese on Whole Wheat with feta

And made a bowl of veggies (or as some call it, a salad) for lunch.

I thought this lunch was going to put me over the top.  Between the pizza, the salad and the fruit, it seemed like so much, but surprisingly, it was just enough.  I've been particularly hungry these past few days.

When I got off work, we met up with our friends for Happy Hour and an early dinner.  We are leaving in exactly one week for Vegas and wanted to spend some time talking about our trip.

While we chatted about Vegas, we nibbled on Crab Dip

And eventually ordered dinner.  I had the Tuscan Tuna Salad.

Perfectly Rare Tuna over a bed of mixed greens with veggies, capers, olives, and served with a lemon basil vinaigrette

After dinner, we went to see Inception.  I have been dying to see this movie for weeks as I've heard it was incredible.  We hardly ever go to the movies anymore because of the lack of quality cinema these days, but every now and then, a movie worth staying up late for comes along and is worth the money.

Inception was one of those movies!  WOW, what a fantastic plot!  I am a pretty tough critic when it comes to new movies so take my word on this, GO SEE INCEPTION!!

Since we went to the Senior Citizen showing of the movie, we still had time to grab ice cream after it was over.

Brusters was in order!

Sadly, they did not have my beloved White Chocolate Raspberry Truffle on the menu, so I settled for Black Raspberry Cheesecake instead.

It was good, but I missed the huge shreds of dark chocolate that the White Chocolate Raspberry has.

Everyone agreed, ice cream was the perfect way to end a wonderful evening!

This morning, I woke up early to get in my long run for the week.

8 miles in a little over an hour!

It was a great run for two main reasons.  For the first time ever, I ran in a sports bra.  It's becoming way too hot, even at 6:30am, to do long runs in a shirt, so I finally invested in a Nike Running Bra and loved it!

I also had my new hand held water bottle with me today.  I've been noticing that I'm getting dehydrated on my long runs.  I usually fuel up before with a bottle of water, but it's not enough.  I knew I wasn't getting enough but I was too lazy to get out the camel bak each time.  The hand held water bottle is great!  I stopped 3-4 times to take a 10 sec walk/drink break and it made a HUGE difference.  I use to think that stopping during long runs was a bad thing, but that's entirely NOT true.  Stopping to walk, stretch, hydrate is one of the best things you can do.  It makes you faster, go longer, and stronger.

8 miles, check!

After a shower, I worked immediately on my oats.

Peach and Blueberry Oats

1/4 Cup Scottish Oats, 1/4 Cup Soy Milk, 1/4 Cup Water, Flax, Chia, 1/2 Ripe Banaa, Diced Peach, Blueberries, Cinnamon, Almonds, 2 TBL Granola, 1 tsp Naturally Nutty White Chocolate Cherry Almond Butter, 2 TBL Chobani

I choose to hydrate after my runs with iced coffee and fruit.

Now I'm off to the mall to try and find a few new fun outfits for Vegas!

Later!

Has anyone ever been to Vegas?  Do you have any recommendations to places to see/eat/do? Toly has been a few times but this is my first time.  I want to see EVERYTHING obviously, but I definitely don't want to miss the "must-sees!"

  3. I LOVE Vegas!!! I've been twice (all while I was underage haha). You must go to The Venetian, The Bellagio, Wynn, and Caesar's Palace. Must. Go to a Buffet too. We loved the one at Mandalay Bay. Vegas is known for their buffets. They have seafood ones--crab legggggs!!

Really, it's just fun to walk around all the hotels.

  4. When I was at Vegas I saw Hairspray, the Blue Man group, and Cirque Du Soleil. All of which was amazing. The wax figure museum was pretty entertaining too!

  5. Vegas is so much fun if not a little crazy. If you can buy liquor in a CVS, you know you're going to have a good time :)

I'd recommend eating at Todai (http://www.todai.com). It's a sushi, seafood buffet that is amazing!! I gorged myself there one day for lunch and didn't regret it for one second. Duh, sushi is good for you ;)

  7. Sounds like you are going to have a great time in Vegas. I have never been either, but my parents have both been and said that all they can really remember about it are the casinos and the heat. Remember to bring clothes that will allow you to keep cool. I also wanted to say, "GO YOU" congratulations on wearing your sports bra running today. I am personally too body conscious to do so. I might be thin, but I am always too concerned that people are going to think I shouldnt be wearing that because I am a very thin person!! Thank you for being an inspiration!! :)

  13. I love Vegas and go all the time. I highly suggest walking through the atrium at the Bellagio and seeing the fountains. Both are free and so fun!

I love walking through Wynn and the Venetian also. Try Bouchon's brunch at the Venetian if you can. Their yogurt parfaits are to die for.
