Wrong Way Day

So this was me at the beginning of the day.

I would show you a comparison picture as to how I look/feel at the end of the day, but I'll spare you the ugly image.  Let's just say it was one of "those Mondays."

It started off fine.  I ran 8 miles which is the most I have run in a long time.  As my training plan begins again, I find myself getting more excited for my long runs.  I try to save them for the weekend, but today I had extra time in the morning and I knew I wouldn't have time this weekend, so I squeezed in 8 today and felt great.

I also had time to make a killer bowl of oats.

Beginning: 1/3 Cup Irish Oats, Flax, Chia, 1/4 Cup Almond Milk, 1/4 Cup Water
Middle: 1/2 Diced Pear, 1/4 Cup Chunky Applesauce, Cinnamon
End: Bit of Homemade Banana Bread, Bit of Homemade Almond Cherry Granola, Bit Vanilla Oikos, Bit of Almond Butter, Bit of Blackberries

In my new bowl….

With the fixings of strawberries and "tiny" coffee.

So yeah, the day was off to a good start.

But I spoke too soon…….

I had to be at a school this morning and I left myself plenty of time to get there because it was one I had never been to.  Good thing for this, because I definitely had the wrong address. After having to stop and ask, I finally found the school with seconds to spare.

Feeling rushed, I eventually got everything together and presented all morning to about 100 kids.  Well, 1/2 way through, I realized that everyone thought that we were a different bank because the woman who scheduled the presentations messed up.  It was pretty humiliating when hundreds of people are under the assumption that you are one of your biggest competitors and realize that you are in fact not them.

Anyways, the presentations went later than I had thought and by the time I got out, all I wanted to do was to go home, eat lunch, grab some stuff to take back to the office and work.

That definitely did not happen and here is why…..

When I left the school, I had about a 20 min drive home.  I hopped on the turnpike to make the commute even quicker but somehow, I ended up in the wrong lane and realized I took the WRONG EXIT!  This is my worst nightmare when taking the turnpike.  All I kept thinking was "please God let there be a close exit so I can get off and turn around."  Well, that next exit was 30 miles!!!!  So yes, I was completely stuck on the turn pike for 30 miles before I could get off.  I just kept thinking, "wow, this sucks but there is absolutely nothing I can do."

So after an hour out of my way and 1/2 a tank of gas, I finally made it back on track.  Needless to say, I was starving and didn't have time to run home to make lunch.  I thought of the next best option.  Call my favorite cafe for quick and delicious takeout.

Juice n' Java to the rescue. (recycled pictures because I didn't have my camera)

Smoothie (Strawberry, Banana, Pineapple)

Greek Salad with a Veggie Burger

Thankfully, lunch was great and I literally scarfed it down in 5 min flat when I got back to my desk.

More stresses occurred at work, but I won't get into that.

I was just happy to get home and happy to be in my kitchen de-stressing by cooking dinner.

I saw this recipe in the Wegmans Magazine a few days ago and wanted to recreate it immediately.

Asian BBQ Tofu with Roasted Asparagus and Thai Peanut Noodle Salad

That was their's and here was mine….

Wonderful recipe!  Go Wegmans!

Finally, I was able to relax.  Now I'm thinking I should have had some wine to go with this.  After the day I had, wine should have been present.  Oh well, the night is still young. ;)

  9. Aw, sorry to hear about the bad day :( I've missed exits before and it SUCKS...for some reason it only ever happens when you have to drive a long time to reach the next one! I'm glad you had a good run and yummy dinner to make up for it a little though! Hope your Tuesday is off to a better start!
