Day at the Harbor

Ah, 3 day weekends!  Nothing is better.  Nothing.

Toly and I had plans to spend the morning/afternoon at Inner Harbor in Baltimore which is something that we love to do and have been doing for years.  With only about an hour drive, it really makes a nice day trip.

Before we left, I woke up and ran 7 miles.  It was so nice to finally get some outdoor running in.  I've been doing everything on the treadmill at the gym because I usually run so early in the morning, that I don't feel safe running around the neighborhood in the dark.  But today, the sun was shinning and the weather was perfect.

When I got back, I snacked on the leftover Pineapple Chobani (about 1/2) with blueberries and Kashi Go Lean Crunch.  We were planning on having brunch in Inner Harbor but I needed something to hold me over.

Sammy always waits patiently for his part….

We got to Baltimore around 10am and headed straight for some breakfast.  After hearing such great things about Miss Shirley's Cafe, I knew it would be a perfect option.

We chose to sit outside since it wasn't too terribly hot quite yet.  Two things I love, cute little cafes for brunch and eating outside!

I was feeling a splurge and went for the Mimosa to sip while we debated the menu.

Please excuse my burn lines as a result of yesterday's picnic.

Everything looked amazing, and both Toly and I had a hard time deciding.  In the end, I went for a signature dish…The Egg White Napoleon Stack.

From website:

Egg White Napoleon Stack
Sun-dried Tomato Polenta Round, Portabello Mushroom, Wilted Spinach & Goat Cheese with Roasted Red Pepper Sauce

On the side, I had the Broiled Grapefruit Brulee that Toly and I ended up sharing.

And Toly ordered the White Chocolate Raspberry Waffles.

Everything was incredible!  No wonder people rave about this place.  We were both completely impressed.

After breakfast, we walked around the Harbor and played with crabs.

I really wanted this hat!

Took some lovely photos by the water.

And stopped in at The ESPN Zone to play a little more….

Fun times!

I somehow managed to talk Toly into turning our Day Trip into an opportunity for a Trader Joe's stop. Since he knows my apparent love and devotion to this place, he complied.

And I was full of joy!

Even if he does think I'm a little nutty, he sure does love me and my crazy food shopping obsessions.

We got back from our adventures late afternoon and were both pretty tired.  Spending all day in the sun really does that to me.  We laid around for awhile and then eventually realized how hungry we were.  An early dinner was agreed.

My parents gave me a ton of leftovers from the cookout yesterday, so I threw them all together in some taco salads.

Mine was veggies, shrimp, broccoli, and guacamole salad.

And Toly had the leftover steak and chicken.

Hit the spot!

It's still pretty early and I love it!  This has been such a great weekend and I don't want it to end, although I'm feeling an early bedtime so I guess it must end sometime! :)

  10. What a great weekend! So glad you got to spend time outside... running in the sunshine and dining al fresco are two of my favorite thing to do. And that napoleon stack looks so delicious!

We used to go to this bar that had pool tables and tons of arcade games, but sadly they took out all of the games! We'll have to find another one.

    Have a great week!
