Marathon Monday

Happy Marathon Monday!  I never really cared or got into the hype of this day until I started running a few years ago.  There really are only two reasons why this day would be exciting for you….you're a runner, or you live in Boston! Even if you're not a runner but living in Boston, you should be thrilled for this day of the year, because more than likely, you'll have a free vacation day! :)

By the way….in case you missed it, the inhumane creature that won the thing this year was Robert Cheruiyot with an official time of 2:05:52!  Most would consider this a very proud 1/2 marathon time, mind you!

I woke up determined to get in a decent run this morning.  Lately, my runs haven't been very solid nor long, since this whole IT Band started acting up, but after a few days of rest and ice, I felt ready.  Well, as I was pushing myself through the first 2 miles, I was getting a little bored (the TV at the gym is broken so I am only able to watch one channel now which is either info-mercials or the news) but then they started doing a story on the marathon.  Then, I thought to myself, 26,000 people will be running 26.2 miles in a few hours….I can definitely handle 6!  And so I did!  I completed 6 wonderful miles in 53:08. Now, this may not seem like a very lengthy distance, but it's the longest I have run in months!  I've been sidelined for so long that 6 miles felt like quite an accomplishment!

I rewarded myself with sensational and very colorful breakfast.

1/4 Cup Kashi Go Lean, 1/4 Cup TJ's Twigs, Berries, POM Chobani

Nature's Path POM Flax Waffle, POM Chobani, Banana Slices, Pecans, and Cinnamon

Love!

The highlight of my work day was lunch. (Obviously!)

My co-worker and friend went out to lunch at one of my faves….Juice and Java.

Say hello to Audi!  Isn't she adorable? :)

I started with a smoothie (Dangerous Liasion, Pineapple, Strawberry, Banana with Protein)

I am always so tempted to ask them to throw some spinach in this, but I already feel bad with all of my outlandish requests, that I never can bring myself to do it.

For my meal, I ordered the Small Greek Salad and added a veggie burger and guac.

It was delicious! The one thing I love about J&J is that everything is always fresh, mostly organic, and high quality.  I use to work here in high school and the owner is so passionate about this.  I also love that I pretty much know how everything on the menu is made.

When I got home from work, I forced convinced myself to get in a good upper body workout because this week ahead is going to be busy and I wasn't sure when else I would have time to squeeze it in.

45 minutes of Upper Body Weights…done!

And, bonus because I had the opportunity to sport my new fantastic shirt!

(Don't Mind the Sweaty Mess)

These come from Matt at the No Meat Athlete Blog.  Matt is awesome by the way so please go over and check out his work.

The shirt is pretty awesome too!  I love the meshy but durable material.  It wasn't too clingy like some workout t's can be.  Very comfortable and stylish!

Now on to dinner.

Oh my, dinner was a winner!

Crab Mango Avocado Quesadillas

Pretty unbelievable!

I made Toly's with lots of cheese and without the Mango/Avocado Salsa

I can't believe it's 8:00 already!  Where did this day go?  Another busy day tomorrow which means bedtime is near.

Good night!

  6. I really want those quesadillas. Honestly, they look incredbile. Great job on the run. That is nothing to laugh at. 6 miles in that amount of time is incredible! I agree with you, in that lunch is usually my favorite part of the day, at least when I am at school. I wish we had a restaurant in College Station, TX that had local organic foods...but sadly its just tex mex and chains. Oh well, that's what Houston is for!

It's great that you have a restaurant like that so close to your work! I love when they have veggie burgers on the menu and are nice about letting you add them to salads.

Hope you're having a great day!
