Oatmeal Breakfast with my Bestest

Happy Saturday!  Hope it's as beautiful where you are as it is here.  Sunny, mild and 50's!  Such a nice treat from the crazy winter we endured.

This morning, I had plans with Jen for an oatmeal breakfast and Body Pump class.  I wasn't quite sure if I was going to make either of these things.  Last night was rather rough (guess that immodium wore off and my stomach caught up with me from the day) so I woke up feeling awful and tired.  I was determined to get past it though and convinced myself to just give it a little while and see how I felt.  As I was getting things ready, I realized that my free passes to the gym had expired.  So, no body pump! :(  That was probably for the best seeing as how lousy I was feeling.  I called Jen and we contemplated canceling the whole thing, but decided that we always had time for oatmeal and good company.  So we stuck with the oatmeal breakfast.  So happy we did!

Now I have been talking my oats up to Jen for quite some time.  This girl loves oatmeal (naturally or why else would I be friends with her ;) but I boastfully told her she hasn't really had oatmeal until she has tasted one of my bowls.

It took me awhile to decide on the final flavor but I think I came up with a winner in the end.

Whipped Banana Cherry Almond Oats

This was a good batch!  Thank goodness!  I think Jen was rather impressed.

However, Toly thought that his breakfast was more impressive.

He made his famous scrambled eggs and mac and cheese with the leftovers from last night's dinner.

Quite intrigued, he allowed Jen to experience the first bite….

Good, but I think I won.

Jen and I ended up sitting over breakfast for 3 hours talking.  We probably wouldn't have even made it to Boby Pump anyways.  There was just too much to catch up on.

I spent a few hours cleaning, still not feeling quite right.  I knew I was pretty dehydrated and just feel weak.  I wasn't really hungry 5 hours later, but I knew I should eat.  Nothing sounded good to me except one thing and one thing only!

A smoothie!

But I didn't want to make one.  I asked my wonderful hubby to run to the coffee shop down the road and get me one.  He's so sweet!

Simple Strawberry Banana Smoothie with added protein.  Perfect!  I also knew I should probably consume something a little more substantial so I put together a quick salad with veggies and hummus.  It was the ideal lunch.

Now, we are just relaxing before we get ready to go out for the night.  Yep, that's right, we are going out for the first time in months!!!  I don't think I can take one more Saturday night at home but since I've been sick, going out just hasn't been an option.

Not tonight though.  I've got new meds and I'm ready for anything! :)  Okay maybe not anything but I'm seriously crossing my fingers that I'll get through.

We are looking at a house and then meeting our friends for a fancy dinner downtown.

Can not wait to feel normal again!

Hope the day is great so far.
