Doctor's Orders

This day flew by!  It was jam packed but very productive.

Before I begin, I wanted to give a quick health update on my condition.

I went to see the GI doctor today for the first time since I have been out of the hospital.  I told him how well things have been going and how much I had been improving.  He seemed very pleased with my progress and told me continue to keep doing what I am doing.  He said as long as things keep progressing, I can get back on my normal diet, continue to ween myself off the steroids, and start to increase my permanent treatment with the other drugs.  The goal is to gradually decrease my body's reliance on the steroid use and in turn, the medication will start to work with my body to keep the disease in remission.  The real test, he said, will be when I do go off the steroids completely, if the medication will be enough to sustain everything on its own. Lets just pray that my body reacts positively.  So far, so good!

The last we talked about was my ambition to run in the upcoming 10 mile Cherry Blossom Race in a few weeks.  I have been so undecided about this and I figured I would talk to the doctor and if he had any hesitation in me doing it, it would be my deciding factor.  Even though he said it's not that I wouldn't be capable of doing it, he advised against it because I will just be coming off the steroids and my body will not have enough time to build enough natural adrenal glands in that time.  He said if I put too much stress on my body too soon, it will only take longer and harder for me to build back up my natural endorphins.  So, this race is just too soon, but he did say in a couple of months, I should have no problems.

Looks like I will not be running in the 10 mile Cherry Blossom Race on April 11th!  Bummer!  But, I am still planning on going to DC that weekend and I will still support everyone.  Since my company has a huge sponsorship in the event, I still want to be there to support everything.  I'll be there cheering everyone on from the sidelines and just waiting for next year to come even stronger.

Whew, okay, now that I've got all that out…. on to the rest of the story….

Today, my appetite was back full force.  The past 2 days, it was a little off, but thankfully, I made up for that with some amazing meals today.

We'll start with breakfast…….

This bowl was heavenly!

1/3 Cup Total Raisin Bran, 1/4 Cup Oatmeal Squares, Blueberry Oikos, Blueberries, Banana, 1/2 Banana Nut Vita Muffin with Mighty Maple

So so so good!

I had meetings out of the office all morning but it was nice to be running around and gave me a reason  to stop mid morning for a quick Star Bucks pick me up and of course, partake in the Free Pastry Day!

When I got there, most of the selection was picked over.  I ordered a tall Iced Coffee and had a choice between the Pumpkin Bread or a Raspberry Scone.  As much as I wanted the bread, I knew my deserving hubby would be so happy to have a scone waiting for him later.  So I got the scone, nibbled on a hunk and enjoyed my coffee.  Lovely little morning snack! Starbucks rocks!

A few hours later, I found myself home and ready for lunch.

I threw together a wonderful little salad of spinach, "vinaigrette"(a Russian salad my MIL makes with beets, peas, pickles, and corn), some slightly cooked broccoli and balsamic and topped with a touch of goat cheese. It was awesome!

I also heated up an Amy's Spinach Pocket.  Love these!!!!  I really think these are my favorite frozen/boxed meal ever.  I never get tired of them.

Lunch was pretty fantastic.

Toly picked me up from work a little early and came with me to my doctor's appointment.

The one grand thing about having a doctor's appointment after work was being able to plan to stop at Chipotle on the way home to grab dinner.  There just happens to be a Chipotle 5 min from the doc's office, so it was a no brained what dinner would be tonight!

Oh my!  Nothing in the world could make me happier than having this little bowl of heaven placed in front of me.  Chipotle, why are you so darn amazing?  Why could I eat you every single day for the rest of my life without hesitation?  Why are you not on every street corner of the world?

Okay, you get the point, this rocked my face off!

It's been a long day but a good one for sure!

Oh, by the way, did you watch DWTS last night?  I can't believe I made it all the way to see Kate Gosselin perform (I knew they would save her for the end) but I'm happy I did because it only confirmed my complete and utter disgust in this woman! Not only is she just completely God awful at the show, she even had the audacity to pull out her narcissistic diva tendencies by moaning on how she was just too good for this and didn't have ANY interest in even being there.  I felt so bad for her poor partner.

I think I have a personal gripe against her because she is actually from where I live, and I know people who personally took care of her and the babies when she gave birth and tell me how much of a MONSTER she was to them.  Everything you hear about her or what is portrayed is apparently true.  I believe it!

Okay, I'm done.  Hopefully she will change and become a better person, but until then, I will enjoy watching her make herself look like a fool on live TV.

Hope you all had a terrific Tuesday!
