A Thanksgiving To Remember

Thanksgiving 2009 was such a success!

It all began at 6:30am for the Annual Turkey Trot!

(Please excuse the puffy cheek. It's a bit more swollen than normal)

Love this 5k. Mainly because it's on Thanksgiving and secondly because I always seem to run it with great people.

This year, my brother in law ran it with me. It was his first race ever and he did amazing!!!

We stuck together for the first 2 miles and coached each other through. He actually found one of his friends in the last mile, so I sprinted ahead in hopes of beating my last 5k time. I ended in 26:09 and he wasn't far behind. This was the farthest he had ever run and I couldn't have been more proud of him!!!

I cam home and got to work on my last minute Thanksgiving contributions....

The Turtle Pumpkin Pie (No Bake!!!) had to be decorated....

Cranberry Apple Relish was made....

And veggies were roasted.....

We left for my sister and brother in laws house around 1pm. My sister had the house decorated beautifully. She is such an incredible hostess. So creative and amazingly talented. She had a wonderful table scape prepared and even made cute little name tag favors for everyone.

Around 2pm, it was time to eat!!!!
Here are a few highlights....

The turkey. I heard it was quite tasty. I don't doubt it either, my dad is so reliable at delivering a stellar bird.

My nanny's Cranberry Salad. This is a family heirloom. We have it every single year and will always have it because its that one dish that makes the holiday a tradition.

My sister's MIL makes THE BEST Sweet Potato Casserole I have ever had!!!! I have been looking forward to this since the last time she made it, which was probably 3 years ago. Yep, it's that good that I haven't stopped thinking about it since.

We did a buffet style which worked like a charm.

My plate had a little of everything (minus the turkey). Everything was soooo good, I licked the plate clean!

The whole gang...

After we digested a little and cleaned up, dessert was served.

Pumpkin Roll, Chocolate Pumpkin Cake, Kandy Cake, Pumpkin Turtle Pie

Just when you think you couldn't possibly stuff another morsel into your belly. There is ALWAYS room for dessert!

We had a wonderful day and the best part was spending the holiday surrounded by loving family. It really makes me entirely grateful for the wonderful people I have in my life.
My incredible hubby,
And my sister....

And my Nanny

And everyone else that I didn't take a picture of. :)
Thanksgiving was perfect. I feel stuffed, loved and beyond blessed for everything I have and have been given.
Hope you all had a fantastic day! :)
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
