Twas the Night Before the Race....

Ola bonitas! How are you on this epic weekend?

It may not be epic per say for you, but for me, it's quite remarkable.

Why you may ask? Well, if you haven't already heard me mention....and I'm sure that you have, tomorrow morning, I will be running in my first 1/2 marathon. This is what I have been training for for 18 months. Needless to say, I am scared as hell, but on a high from excitement.

Toly didn't get in from poker night until 3am! I woke up this morning and found this in the bathroom....

So makes me wonder if these so called "poker nights" are really a bunch of guys sitting around a table playing Texas, drinking beer and eating pizza for hours.

Haha, I think I discovered his secret. It's really a bunch of guys rocking out karaoke style to some Pat Benatar.
Hey, whatever keeps him happy, I won't judge. :)

Well, like I said last night, this was the first Saturday in months that I haven't woken up early to do my long run. I did sleep in a little (6:45am) and decided to do some much needed stretching with a great Pilate's workout. There was a ton of leg stretching which felt awesome! Just what I needed pre-race.

I waited for my hunger to kick in and then got to work on breakfast.

First up, another fruit spiral. It's just so fun to make and to eat...

And oats....

Delicious oats if I may add. I've been dreaming this bowl up all week.

1/3 cup oats
1/4 cup almond milk
1/2 cup water
1/2 overripe mashed nanner
teaspoon of almond extract
1/2 nectarine

On top: raspberries, raspberry jam, sliced almonds and the best part...nutella! Such a treat!

All together, this was such a delightful Saturday breakfast.

My sleeping beauty eventually woke up around 10am. Since I figured he probably had an intense night of belting 80's love ballads, eh hem, I mean engaging in manly poker games, I decided to make him breakfast.

Over easy Eggs (that of course I broke, I can never get them perfect) bacon and toast.

We didn't have much planned today and did this on purpose. I really just wanted to save the day to rest and relax.
PSU (my Alma Matar) was playing at noon, so we watched some of the game and then eventually, got hungry for lunch.
Leftover pizza, veggies and THE BEST DIP IN THE WORLD!!!! (Hummus and salsa) Can you tell I'm a fan?

Toly ate the rest of Brooke's half from last night, only I removed the green stuff (broccoli) and added some peperoni and more cheese.

Later on, we decided to go for a hike.
Hiking is something that both Toly and I have such a passion for. It's truly relaxing and such an escape and I knew it was a perfect way to ease my nerves and stretch my legs.

Sammy LOVES hiking! Really, this dog whimpers the entire car ride to the mountain and then as soon as we get there, takes off like a rocket. He also gets himself so worked up from excitement and has to poop 5 minutes into the hike. (Every single time!)

Haha, I just love this picture....Opps, Sammy you blinked! :)

We hiked for about an hour which was just enough. I only wanted to do a nice easy trail and really just enjoy the fresh air and beautiful scenery.

Such a little trooper, but Sammy gets quite worn out from these excursions

On our way home, we stopped at our favorite Thai restaurant and picked up some take out for dinner. I told Toly that I think Thai will be my pre-race tradition. Thai Eggplant Basil with Steamed Tofu is my absolute favorite and I also snagged some of Toly's Pad Thai for extra carbo loading.

Well, the ipod is charging, my playlist has been downloaded, my camel back is packed, my outfit is laid out, and my HRM is all set. I'm ready for this!

Wish me luck, I'll be doing a full recap tomorrow. Thank you all for your kind supportive thoughts and wishes. I can't tell you how encouraged I am by the overwhelming support I have from my good friends. :)

Love you all. Night.
