The week is half over and I am more than pleased by this. It’s been quite a daunting week in our household, so having the end in sight is relieving.
This morning, I had to put a bit more effort into getting myself up and out to door. Usually, I have no problems (I am such a morning person) and out of bed and running by 4:30am; however, today, I just couldn’t get my peepers open. I hate when that happens! I know I haven’t been getting the best of sleep this week mainly because our room has been uncomfortably warm and humid with no AC. Lots of tossing and turning among our sweaty bodies (and NOT in a good way!) ;)
I made up for my morning drag with an exciting new cereal that I have been so anxiously awaiting to open.
These are Nature’s Brand Flax Plus Flakes Since I recently discovered that my standard Bran Flakes contain HFCS (I eat bran flakes every single day!!!) I quickly sought out a new replacement to add into my cereal mix each morning.
I was digging the Total 100% Whole Grain but when I spotted this Nature’s Path Brand, I knew I had to give it a go. I love Nature’s Path Cereals and products and I am continually impressed with the multitude of health benefits they provide.
Here is just an idea how these flakes contribute to one’s daily nutrition requirements…
(Taken from Website)Flax Plus® Flakes Our top selling multi-bran blend boasts 7 grams of fiber and contains Omega-3 fatty acids. Made with love and ... Organic whole wheat flour, organic wheat bran, organic evaporated cane juice, organic flax, organic oat bran, organic barley malt extract, sea salt, tocopherols (natural vitamin E). Contains wheat. I loved this cereal!!!
Not only did it taste great, but the addition of flax kept me feeling so satisfied for hours!!!! I’ve been trying to remember to add a TBL of flax to my cereal bowl each morning, but I often forget, so now that it’s already in my cereal box, it’s perfect. Flax is such an incredible thing, I am so happy I discovered this amazing ingredient and try to incorporate it into just about every meal. The health benefits are inconceivable!
It’s a good thing this breakfast kept me going because I had a crazy morning. I was out of the office all morning and didn’t get back to my desk to eat lunch until 12:30pm. I didn’t even have a second to grab a snack in between, so obviously, I was huuunnngry!
We managed to get to the gym tonight for a nice 30 min strength workout before the storms hit.
And we ended up speedwalking Sammy because the clouds were very very threatening. Happy to report we made it home just in time.
And just in time for dinner. Wednesday nigh BFD of course!
I have been craving a real breakfast for quite some time. I'm talking Denny's style Grand Slam breakfast.
I created my version of a Grand Slam.....
Scrambled Eggs, Waffles and Sausage
Kashi Blueberry waffles with Oikos, peach and blueberries, and Bocca Soy Sausage Links
(And you know those eggs were covered in ketchup after I took this! ;)
Toly had cheesy eggs, chocolate chip eggos, and bacon
This was an Over the Fence, Out of the Ballpark, Grand Slam!!!!
And definitely cured my hankering for some good old fashion breakfast foods.
