Sun, Sand, and a Drink in Hand

Hi everyone from the Outer Banks, SC!

We are having a great time, enjoying every moment of this relaxing vacation.

Toly and I were up before the sun on Saturday (around 4am), got our things, and were out the door. We were on the road before 6am, which was a great start because we wanted to aviod the DC traffic (which we did!)

Apparently, Toly doesn't like having his candid snapped after 7 hours of driving.

We made it in great time. A little over 7 hours with around 3 stops. Not bad!

We are staying in Avon, which is pretty far south into the Outer Banks. Both Toly and I have never been here, so the whole area is completely new to us. It's so wonderful here. Everything is peaceful and laid back and the whole mentality just seems to be to lay around and unwind.

Last night, we kept it low key and hung out on the deck enjoying some beers for a few hours. After a few too many beers for the boys, we realized we should probably get some food in those empty stomachs. We headed to Dirty Dicks (a local favorite here). Lena told me the crabs were a must, so of course, I had to try.

We split the full order of King Legs and honestly, these had to have been the best I have had. SOOOO fresh and they were gigantic. I love being able to pull a huge hunk of meat out of a leg, something about it feels so rewarding! :)

Today, I woke up early (6am) and did a wonderful 5 mile run. I wanted to run along the beach, but I couldnt find the entrance and ended up just running along the strech on the road. It was still very nice and scenic.

We then spent the rest of the afternoon at the beach. I might have been drinking wine on the sand at 10am.

Okay not like this, but hey, it is vacation and I do love me some vino!
It was such a lovely beach day, not too hot but enough sun to get a tan. Loved it!

This evening, we are just chillin around the house and firing up the grill. Everyone enjoyed a nice steak and potato meal but I chose to bbq a veggie burger with a side salad and steamed broccoli.

Very satisfying and delicious!

Later tonight, we want to go to the Peir for some fishing and crabbing.

I've never been crabbing but I hear it's quite fun.

Hope you guys are having a great weekend. I'll be back with more soon.
