Baby Foods

I seem to have puffed up even more. My cheeks just get growing and growing and I feel like one big mess.

Ugh, this is the pits for sure. Last night, I woke up around 2am in total pain and discomfort. Apparently, all my meds had worn off and boy could I tell. I ran downstairs, popped another Vicoden and attempted to fall back to sleep. Not the most restful night for sure.

All I've really been eating today is reminiscent to baby foods. This morning, I started off with a green monster. It was very very good-

1/2 frozen banana
2 cups spinach
1/2 cup almond milk
1/2 cup pumpkin
1 TBL PB2

I also managed to semi-get down a soft piece of toast with some cottage cheese. Sammy had to help me out with the crust but it was good to get some solids in me.
I started to feel a little better after breaks. Must have been the Vicoden kicking in. After 24 hours of laying on the couch, my legs were aching for some movement. I did an easy 30 min on the ET while watching the news. It was so nice to move my body a little- I felt like I was going to start to grow into the couch pretty soon.

A few hours later, I was hungry again. Here is where I needed to get creative. I raided my freezer and found a box of frozen butternut squash. I steamed this with some kale, added a LC cheese wedge and placed it in the oven to bake. Once it was done, I topped it with some goat cheese.

I also came across a can of beets and thought-hmmm, I love beets and these should be soft enough to get down the gullet. So I diced them up, and baked with a little honey and salt and pepper.

The squash tasted heavenly. Probably because it was the first "real" meal I've had in days. I of course smothered it with ketchup and then ended up dipping my beets into my squash mush. It was divine, I swear!

A little later, my mouth got sore again and I needed something cool to soothe it. This is where yogurt comes in. This Oikos Greek Yogurt in Blueberry did the trick. Tasted so smooth, cool and refreshing. I am loving this blueberry flavor. If you are having a hard time with the taste of greek yogurt, I highly recommend giving this a try. It's very mild and sweet (unlink plain greek yogurt which can tend to be a little more bitter).

So guys, I made the decision not to run tomorrow. I am totally bummed because I have been looking forward to this race for months, but ultimately, there is no way I will be in top shape for a 5K in the morning. I called my friend Sarah and apologized for bailing, but she totally understood. We actually signed up for another 5k in a few weeks which benefits The American Heart Association. As much as it's killing me not to run, I think it would be silly for me to push myself and risk an even more prolonged recovery.
Well, I think I will try to sleep some more and wait for Toly to get home. We are going to be making pancakes and eggs for din tonight. Soft and sweet, just about all I can handle, but I can't wait for BFD!!!
Hope your having a wonderful Friday!
