When Two Become One Under The Same Roof

I'm home a lot earlier than I expected for a Saturday night so I found some extra time to put up a post before bed.

It wasn't too long ago that I wrote about yesterday though, so if you didn't get a chance to read it, start from there.

First order of business, let's talk about the new header!!!

My new and wonderful friend, Sarah did this for me and I LOVE it!  I'm trying to make some changes to SWYNTS gradually and she has been helping me come up with some new branding ideas.

PS- Aside from being a design consultant, Sarah also established and runs her own granola company.  I've hit the jackpot of friends here, not only is she incredibly sweet and do we share so much in common, but she is a social networking guru and makes some of the best granola I've ever had.  Don't believe me?  Try some for yourself!!  CLICK HERE

This morning, my alarm went off at 7am so that I could make one of my favorite classes at the gym, Body Combat.

I tend not to fill my belly with a heavy breakfast on gym mornings because the classes I take on Saturday mornings are usually high cardio.  Too much bouncing around on a full stomach is never a good combo.

A balance of Carbs and Protein is the best fuel for me when it comes to morning workouts for pre-race.  I always stick with what works.

Fruit and Cottage Cheese

Honey Wheat Bagel with Mighty Maple PB, Mashed Banana, Plain Jane Granola

Even though it looks big, the whole bagel was pretty small, so I decided to eat the other half too knowing I would be at the gym for a few hours and then had errands to run and wouldn't be able to eat again for a long while.

The other half had cream cheese and jam

It ended up being just enough but I was right.  By the time I got home (and nearly 5 hours later) I was ready for lunch.  After a killer Body Combat class, a wonderful Body Flow class and some errands, my morning quickly ran well into the afternoon.

One of my stops was the Health Food store to stock up on some vitamins.  While there, I also picked up a cocktail to have with lunch.
I haven't tried this brand but it was $2 cheaper than my usual Kombucha.  It was good but not the best.

For lunch, I heated up the other half of my pizza from last night.  I noticed that this half missed out on the hummus, so I slathered it in some Spinach Hummus that I had just got from the Health Food Store.

On the side, I was inspired by the Citrus Avocado salad I had from lunch yesterday and tried to make my own version.

Grapefruit in salads could be my new favorite thing.

After lunch, I decided to spend some time working on some blog and work things, so I moved my office into a coffee shop.

Soy Chai Latte

I had to fight with the Wi-Fi for about 20 min but eventually, I got it to work and ended up spending a few hours there.

We had plans to take my parents to see the house before dinner, but Toly got a text from the builder to let us know that all the tile had just been laid and we weren't to walk on it for a day.

We were all a little bummed because my parents really wanted to see the house, but soon enough, EVERYONE will be able to see it!!! ;)

Dinner tonight was at El Sol, the BEST Mexican restaurant downtown.

We always begin our meal at El Sol with a plate of the most amazing guac I've ever had.

Tonight, I was feeling Sangria over a Margarita. It was a good choice too.

I was going to order the Fajitas but Toly decided he was going to get them so I went with the Enchiladas instead.

Enchiladas De Camaron (Sautéed Veggies and Shrimp)

It was all incredible!

The reason for us dining out with my parents tonight was to commence our time together as a family living under one roof.  It's been 4 months since we moved in with them and in just 2 weeks, (hopefully) we'll be moving back into our normal lives.

Honestly, Toly and I are truly blessed.  Although it's been hard at times, we could not have asked for a better living situation during this process.  My parents have been truly hospitable, supportive, and have gone out of their way to ensure that we felt at home.

Many people ask me if it's hard living with my parents and what I tell everyone is that while its not necessarily hard living with my parents, its hard being married and living with my parents.  Combining two sets of lives under confined space is never an easy situation, no matter how much you love each other.

We'll be sad to say goodbye but we are so ready to have our lives back.

Well, that's all for now.  Tomorrow is a free day and I'm not sure what's on tap but I'm sure we'll find something to keep us busy.

Goodnight!

  3. I totally agree with you - living with my parents isn't hard, but living with my husband and parents would be very hard. My sister and her husband moved into my parents house when I was still living there, and it was quite an adjustment for everyone. They were there for a year, and what a year it was!

  4. Congratulations on the new house!!! I can only imagine how hard it must be to move back in with the 'rents (even if only temporarily). Husband and I may face the same type of situation in a few months, so good to know all went well.

    Love the new header too!

  7. Another excellent day! I started my day off at the gym too- fabulous! Lunch looks yummy-ESPECIALLY the salad. And I love when a Mexican restaurant has spectacular guac. Very happy that you and Toly will finally have your own home again. And, of course, I cannot wait to see the pictures.

  10. I agree...once you are married...it does make things more difficult. I'm so excited that you are going to be in your own place so soon (I know you are too!) What a lovely dinner to celebrate your family...and this new and exciting venture for the two of you! Thank you for sharing with me tonight! I hope you have a great weekend, my dear.
