Escape the Sickness

Well so far so good.  Toly is feeling much better and I'm still in the clear (knock on wood).  I did find out that my brother-in-law got violently ill last night and now has the same bug Toly had today.  My sister is a bit more concerned about picking it up than I was, seeing as she has a newborn to care for.  Gosh this virus is nasty.  My sympathy to anyone who has had to deal with it this season.

I went to bed last night praying to the good Lord that I would not be woken in the middle of the night with a sudden urge to vomit.  Thankfully, there was no urge and I even woke up hungry.  Prayers do work!

It would have been a shame to let this breakfast go to waste.

Small Pear, Kashi Cinnamon Harvest (last of the box, my favorite), applesauce, honey chobani, almond butter, erica's granola

I can't get enough grapefruit these days. Nothing is more refreshing or thirst quenching than a juicy grapefruit, no?

I had a few presentations in the morning and then made it back to the office around lunch time.

I packed this beauty last night with the leftovers from dinner.

Cranberry Tempeh, Brussels, Asparagus, Cucumber, Radish, Rice, Pom Seeds

Lovely it was.

When I got home, I was pleasantly surprised to see an alert, showered, and hungry husband.  Much better than the scene from last night. (I'll spare you the details, it wasn't pretty)

Ever since I opened that Fig and Walnut Butter last night, I've been dreaming of ways to use it.  Somehow this wonderful little sandwich popped into my head and it was all over from there.

TJ's Asagio Bread, Fig and Walnut Butter, Goat Cheese, Apple, Spinach

I toyed between soup or a salad but the salad won.

Roasted Squash and Brussels, Green Apple, Cranberries, Cabbage, Walnuts

This sandwich was the best idea I've had all week.

And what did the recovering patient get?

Chicken Noodle Soup and a Grilled Cheese

Wishing all good health for the New Year! :)

  1. Glad to hear that you've been spared! *fingers crossed* and glad to hear that Toly is doing well. Your sandwich looks really good, but I'm definitely drawn to the patient's dinner. Nothin' like a good ol' soup and grilled cheese to make you feel better :-)

  5. Those stomach bugs are the WORST! I once caught it right before a road trip, so you can only image how awful the 12 hour car ride was!! Glad that you're in the clear so far!!

  8. Hi sweet girl...I just sent a prayer up for you and your family. I hope you continue to feel strong. We got hit with a nasty stomach bug last holiday season, and it was so hard! Thank you for sharing. Many blessings for the rest of the week!
