Inncoent

"Wasn't it easier in your lunchbox days?
Always a bigger bed to crawl into
Wasn't it beautiful when you believed in everything?
And everybody believed in you?

Lives change like the weather
I hope you remember
Today is never to late to
Be brand new"

~Innocent, Taylor Swift

I am currently in love with this song by Taylor Swift.  I always mention that I often find my enjoyment in songs because of their lyrics.  I love when a song tells a story or offers some kind of meaningful sentiment, almost like a personal letter or a diary entry.  When I first heard Taylor sing this on the AMA's, I knew it had to be on my playlist.

But let's talk about the lyrics for a second.  How many times do we define ourselves by our past mistakes?  I know I do. Many times, I will beat myself up because of somehow I use to feel, something I once did, or something I didn't do.  Let's face it, life moves in one direction and that is forward.  When we get caught up in who were were in the past, we forget to realize who we are capable of being now.
Innocence is a beautiful thing and something you never loose.  Yes, as we age, we become more cynical but never any less pure.  Always remember to find beauty in what you believe and who you are and who you will become.

"Who you are is not what you did, you're still an innocent."

I woke up feeling a little better today than I have for the past few.  It's probably good that I was the worst over the weekend because I really can't afford any more sick days.  I'm currently saving up my time for the move and a possible vacation this spring.

Breakfast was bright, vibrant and delicious!

1/2 Granny Smith Apple, Kashi Harvest, Kashi Go Lean, Applesauce, Blackberries, Almond Butter Granola

More citrus.  It's funny how you crave vitamin c when you are sick.  I usually don't drink juice or anything but water and coffee, but I've been having strong urges for big gulps of OJ.

I worked most of the day in the office with a few meetings and then broke for lunch around noon.  Leftovers came to great use today.

Leftover Pizza, Salad and an orange

After work, I hit the gym and decided I would see how I felt.  I was feeling pretty good and when I got there, I did an easy 5 mile run.  A lot of people ask what the rule is when it comes to working out when you are sick and I always say you have to listen to your body.  I know that many say that if it's above the chest, you are usually okay to do light activity and I'm to the point where it's a light cough, scratchy throat, and some sniffles so I was feeling okay.  But if I would have felt at all lightheaded or faint or just not right, I would have stopped.

When I got home, I was hungry and happy to see my dad had made a HUGE pot of homemade minestrone soup simmering on the stove.

The soup would go perfect with what I was really craving all afternoon.

Roasted Brussels Sprouts and Canned Green Beans.

No lie.  I was thinking about these two things all day and thinking of how to incorporate them into my dinner.

I roasted the sprouts and heated the beans and put some of the soup on top.

So comforting and delicious.  I can't get enough of soup these days.

So as you may or may not know, Toly and I are in the process of building a house and I'm currently becoming extremely interested in domestic ideas.  I need some inspiration for room decorating.  I think I've got the kitchen but I have a dozen other rooms to think about and I don't even know where to start!! Does anyone know of any good websites/magazines that offer good ideas or tips? Or do you have any of your own??

  3. I love that song - actually, I love the entire new Taylor Swift CD. It's really good. I love decorating - I would love to tell you some magainze, but I don't know what your style is. Mine is kind of modern day country (think pottery barn), so I always look to better homes and garden, pottery barn, of young house love for inspiration!

  4. SO glad you're feeling better! Yayyyyy! I totally crave juice when I'm sick as well. And soup was the perfect meal to come home too. Keep getting those fluids in. I am like the WORST decorator....I just never want to do it. Our house is very plain...so I won't provide any tips hehe.

  12. Nin Jiom Pei Pa Koa (ninjiom-hk.cwahi.net) may be another choice. i know alot of people use it, its also non alcoholic, though it's effectiveness is not as good as alcohol based cough medicine, but it's still good to use on not so serious scratchy throat.
