Walkers for Knockers

Okay, why is it that packing seems to take more out of me than any intense run or workout?  I definitely took a rest day from working out but I think I compensated for any of that with hours of packing.  I am beat!

Let's back up a bit though.

I woke up early today so that I could get in a decent breakfast before the Strides for Breast Cancer Walk I singed up to walk.

{{{Yes, breakfast is more important to me than sleep}}}

I wanted something relatively quick but filling and of course entirely satisfying. So I had toast.

Okay, so I had Apple Cider Bread Toasted with 1/2 mashed banana, Cinnamon Raisin PB, Cinnamon Roasted Pears, Granola and a drizzle of Maple Agave.

{{Yes, I consider this a "quickie" breakfast}}

I arrived at City Island by 7:30am and met up with the rest of my team.  My work was walking as a team so I gladly joined some of my friendly co-workers.

It was cold!!!  I was freezing until we actually started walking, and even then I was still cold.  Now I remember why I usually run 5k's, I swear the mere motivation to stay warm makes me want to run in the colder months.

Besides the chill, it was a great walk!  I never had any direct association with breast cancer until my great aunt was diagnosed last year.  This cancer has effected far too many women and continues to dominate millions of lives each year.  It's so important to be proactive about our health, especially as women, which means continually being all over our distinguishing features.  ;) As Jillian Michael's says, "Get comfortable with being uncomfortable."

I had to run some errands after the walk and didn't get home until later the in the afternoon.  I was starved!

Still eating down my freezer with a TJ's Masla Burger on top of Arugula, Green Pepper, Avocado, Beet, Tomato, and Cabbage Salad. Dressing was spicy hummus and balsamic.

Also roasted some acorn squash fries.  Salad and squash fries is one of m favorite meals.

After we ate, that is when the grueling work began.  I think we are definitely getting somewhere but we ran out of boxes, so our packing had to end after a few hours today.

To be honest, I was relieved to be able to lay down and engage in a Jersey Shore mini marathon for the rest of the afternoon.

It felt great to relax for awhile and lunch held me over so well that I didn't even start to think about dinner until 7:00pm.  Finally, Toly asked if I was going to be making something soon.

In honor of the Phillies 2nd round of the Playoff games, we celebrate with pizza and beer.

My side was roasted vegetable and goat cheese and Toly's was pepperoni and bacon.

I went a little heavy on the sauce, which was definitely intentional.  I love more sauce than cheese or crust and is why I usually make my own pizza.  It's hard to order a pizza to my liking at a restaurant.

Okay, time to watch the Phillies KICK BOOTY in the 2nd round!

Enjoy your Saturday night!

  3. Your pizza looks amazing...piled on with vegetables is just how I like it. I am going to have to remind my husband about the Phillies...we are too far from the East Coast. I'm glad you were able to participate in the walk even thought it was so cold. Thank you for all your kind words on my blog...your thoughts are deeply appreciated.

  5. Way to run for boobies!
    I always order or make a thin crust GF pizza w/ no cheese and TONS of veggies. There is an amazing little pizza place around the corner from my house that has an amazing high protein/high fiber GF crust. They also use all organic ingredients! AMAZING!!!!
