I Need Boring!

Greetings Loved Ones!

I had quite an overwhelming day.  I'm not really sure if I can classify it as a good overwhelm or a bad one, but either way, I'm just glad it's behind me.

Life is so out of sorts right now.  I'm definitely one that thrives on solid routine so these past few days have kind of thrown me for a loop.  I know everything will settle down soon and I'll find a good groove, but I'm not sure how much more excitement I can take.

I had to be at a school pretty early this morning so breakfast was a quick bowl of cereal.

Okay, so my cereal doesn't exactly fit the stereotype of most typical cereal bowls, but I think you know this by now.

1/4 Cup Kashi Go Lean Crunch, Kashi Harvest Nuggets (handful), 1/2 chopped Green Apple, Blackberries, Vanilla Chobani, Almond Butter, Galaxy Granola

What is that Christmas mug doing in there?  It must be having an identity crisis because clearly the pumpkin cornucopia is taking precedent in these breakfast pics.

After teaching, I swung back into work to pick up my friend/co-worker so we could make a very important meeting.

Jill had yet to meet The Big Guy!

My friend Jill has actually become good friends with my sister over the past years through daycare.  Brooke was her son's teacher and they connected right away.  Today, we decided to go visit Brooke and baby Weston over lunch.

I will gladly take this lunch meeting every single day.

We picked up take out from a local deli on the way.  I ordered a Mediterranean Salad with Tuna.  I usually stay away from tuna salads at places because I really do dislike mayo, but this place makes some delicious tuna salad with hardly any mayo.  I love how generous they are too with the protein.

Weston hung out with us while we ate and chatted.  It was really a lovely visit.

When I got back to work, I got slammed with phone calls, emails, and the usual office stuff.  Then I found out that our new house finally received a settlement date, which means they can FINALLY start building!!!!  (No, they have not even started the build yet because we were hung up on some issues on the paperwork that have finally been resolved). But just to make my life a little more crazy, they scheduled the settlement for Friday, right after the settlement of our old house.  So that means back to back settlements in two different places.  I will be looking for a happy hour after my day on Friday!

After work, I needed to unwind.  I was so high strung and worked up and I knew I needed to go to my serenity of running in order to calm down.  Sometimes, channeling those feelings of major anxiety into a workout is the best outlet.

I did a killer treadmill workout of hills and speed work.  I haven't done hills in a very long time and I remember why….they are HARD!

It went something like this…..

5 min warm up at 6.3
4 min 2% incline at 6.5
3 min 3% incline at 6.7
2 min 4% incline at 6.9
1 min 5% incline at 7.0
5 min 1% at 7.0
4 min 2% at 7.2
3 min 3% at 7.4
2 min 4% at 7.5
1 min 5% at 7.7
5 min at 7.5
5 min speed work changing from 6.5 to 8.0
3 min cool down at 10% 5.0

Wow, this was intense.  I was dripping in sweat and completely spent after this. In total it was 5 miles in about 43 min.

When I got home, my mom had dinner ready.  Oh and she also had clean, folded laundry on our bed.  Gosh, it's good to be home! ;)

She made her famous Shrimp Creole which is one of my favorite meals she makes.  I had mine over TJ's Harvest Grain mix, spinach and steamed broccoli.

So very good!

I wish I could say tomorrow is going to be boring but I don't think that is the case.  I need a boring day in my life soon to keep the balance.  It will come, it will!

Ciao for now!

  2. oh girl! I totally know how that is. We sold one house and closed on our new house within 5 days of each other. I was sick to my tummy thinking our house wasn't going to sell! So sweet of your mama to fold up your laundry and make you dinner. I need that :) Hope tomorrow is EASY.

  3. If by settlement, you mean a closing, I can totally feel your pain. When we closed on our house, we got there at 9:30 and didn't leave until 3:30. We had some major issues with the title company and they made a mistake. It was horrible.

  8. What a precious little guy! I, like you, thrive on routine, so I know how jarring it can be when you get knocked off your schedule. I will be thinking about you and hoping that today was a much more relaxing experience. Much love!
