Glee Gone Wild

Hey Hey!

How are we all on this beautiful Thursday?  Me, we'll I'm a little out of sorts with so much stress from the upcoming move and house, but I'll manage.

Food For Thought:
I wanted to start off with a small discussion on the latest Hollywood Gossip, the controversial Glee photo shoot in GQ Magazine.

Now, I don't watch Glee.  Actually, I've never even seen an episode, but I do know that there is a substantial hype around this popular teenage series and with that, there is a significant following of young, influential and extremely insecure adolescents. I understand that these actors are adults and free to do as they please to generate popularity; however, I have to say, I am siding with the PTC (Parental Television Council) on this one.  Even though they may be in their late 20's in real life, they portray high school students on tv and that is how the majority of their fans see them.  By staring in a show that is targeted at young people who you are trying to capture, you have a sense of obligation to withhold a righteous and respectable model for this audience.

But that is just what I think.  What do you think?

If you haven't seen the photos, you can find most of them here.  (Watch the video clip at the bottom to see more)

It was quite a busy day in my neck of the woods.

I began with an optimistic attitude and a big bowl of overnight oats.

Overnight Oats: 1/4 Cup Oats, Strawberry Banana Chobani, 1/2 Banana, Flax and Chia
Toppings: Strawberries, 1/2 Banana, Kashi Go Lean, Almonds, Dark Choc. Almond Butter Drizzle

Peace. Love. And Serendipity Coffee. I love looking at this reminder every morning.

I had a few meetings in the morning and afternoon but found a segment in the middle to have lunch.

I'm still eating down the fridge which means eat up all of the things I do not want to go to waste first.

Organic Kale Chips

1/2 Acorn Squash with Baked Beans, Yogurt and Honey Mustard

Eaten with an orange.  Which I've definitely been neglecting this season.  Oranges are good!

After my last meeting, I went straight to the gym for a little run and a little lifting.

3 mile run, 20 min of lifting and that was good.

Still working on the fridge purge, I used up almost every vegetable left in the bin to make a fantastic stir fry.

Eggplant, Zucchini, Green Pepper, Mushroom, Broccoli and Shrimp in a Spicy Orange Stir Fry Sauce

Stir Frys are the very best way to clean out your fridge.  Well Stir Frys and Salads, but I'm convinced that a stir fry is just considered a hot salad.

Toly helped with the freezer by eating the last of the chicken.

There are a few things I definitely DO NOT need to bring to my parents house and that is chicken and condiments.  My dad buys chicken like it's going out of style and freezes it but then forgets and buys more.  They have more chicken than Snookie has class.

Oh and my obsession for condiments was most definitely inherited from my father.  It's going to be hard to share space with my 18 jars of nut butter and array of jams and spreads, but we'll make it work.

Ciao for now!

  1. I just don't understand the necessity to be so provocative... esp while the guy is fully clothed and looking like he could be in high school. but then again, it is GQ... isn't that the point of their magazine?

I think that if JUST lea michelle or JUST the blonde girl (name blank) wanted to pose, it would be different, bc they'd be representing themselves... but the cast is together: therefore, it seems to me they are representing their characters and the show.

  6. At first I disagreed with the PTC because they seem to blow a lot of things out of proportion, but I have since changed my mind and I do agree with them on this one. They are posing as a cast therefore they are promoting the show. That's just one point - we don't need to get into all of them.

  7. I'm honestly not sure where I stand on the Glee issue. I DO watch, the the show in general has been pretty racy lately so I don't really think the audience is little kids.

However, I kind of see it similarly to the whole Marie Claire article issue. Do the actors/bloggers have the responsibility to do/write based on who is watching and what they think? Or can they do as they choose and write what they want, making the readers/viewers take the blame for any issues they may have?

I think it would be extremely difficult as an almost 30 year old to have to live my whole life as if I were the 17 year old character I portray for my job.

  8. It makes me sad to see all of these sexualized young women and men. I agree that actors and actresses need to be careful about how they present themselves. Ultimately, they have the freedom to do what they like, but I think the world would be a far better place if we stopped acting and treating each other like "objects". Thank you for sharing with us...good luck with your time with your parents. Much love, sweet girl!
