There is a New Love in My Life

It is true!

I am completely and utterly in love with another boy.

But I think Toly is entirely understanding of it, so not to worry.

I would like you to all meet my newest love,

Weston Matthew Fickes, born September 15, 2010.  8lbs 13oz

I am the proudest aunt in the world and my heart is completely full of happiness, love, pure joy.  He is perfect!

I spent almost 17 hours in the hospital yesterday as one of my sister's birthing coaches and honestly, there is no where else in the world that I would have rather been that in that exact moment when he entered this world.  I can't thank her enough for giving me this amazing experience.

It all began around 10am yesterday morning.  I got the call that Brooke was going into the hospital with contractions 5 min apart.

I rushed over and geared up for an all day event.

Brooke was truly unbelievable!!!!! I have never in my life seen such strength, determination, passion and endurance.  She labored for over 22 hours and pushed for almost 2 hours straight.  This girl is my hero, I can't tell you how proud I was of her.

Seeing this beautiful perfect child enter the world was an experience that I can't even begin to explain in words.

The moment he came out, we were all in tears of joy and immediately fell in love.

  6. Thank you for sharing this beautiful post. I'm being induced tomorrow night at 8pm and am anxious/nervous about this whole process, but know the end result is totally worth it!

  7. Congrats Lauren! So exciting.

Btw, does it worry you that you might not be able to have children because you're so small? As a physician, I think you need to gain at least an additional ten pounds and exercise every other day. Two a day workouts are too much on your body. Please remember that the damage you do now affects you five years from now. All the pain you have in your knee and the pushing you do while at the gym will not be good in the long run. Please take care of yourself.

  8. Thanks for the words of encouragement Tina!

  9. Hi Lauren,

I'm glad I can help but please take my advice seriously. By the looks of your pictures, you look very thin and frail. I understand you gained some weight but please please please gain more, especially if you would like to have kids in the future. Remember you need hips to have kids. :) Please remember the next time you do like three workouts a day that you are DEFINITELY hurting your body and risking the ability to have children. I've had patients like you in the past and this is the advice I've always given them.

  10. WOW!!! Congrats to your sister! He is adorable. I can't wait to watch him grow up via your blog :)

  11. What a beautiful baby. Warmest congratulations and well wishes to this new family. Your sister and brother-in-law will make amazing parents. And you, my dear, will be an amazing aunt. There is no better job in the world...I speak from personal experience!

  12. I just got a new neice June 15, I know how you feel. :)

Being an aunt is seriously an amazing thing.

  13. AWW!! Congrats - he is PRECIOUS!!!! Being an Aunt is the absolute best - you'll have a blast spoiling him rotten!
