Many Mishaps

I'm not sure where my brain was today, but apparently, I left it in the dust with the fantastic weekend I had.

Point in case, today was rough.

Actually, I take that back.  It wasn't so much rough as it was just dull.  Do you ever have those days when you just don't feel yourself? Not that you're angry or sad or depressed, but rather just "blah."

So today was my "blah" day but it was also my "blonde" day.

First mishap…..

I sliced my finger while attempting to cut a grapefruit.  Not only did the cut hurt, but the acidity from the juice of the grapefruit seeping into my wound didn't help either.

At least breakfast was spared.

Overnight Tropical Oats with Mango and Raspberry

Overnight Oats: 1/4 Cup Scottish Oats with Pineapple Chobani, Chia.
1/4 Cup Kashi Go Lean, 1/2 Mango, Raspberries, small slice of peach bread with White Chocolate Wonderful

And at least the grapefruit was good.  I would have been quite upset if I risked my finger over an under ripe citrus.

Second mishap….

I had to rush to work because the finger mayhem shaved some minutes off my routine, and when I got there I realized I had forgotten my door key.  I hate when I do this.  It just means I have to wait for someone to let me in, but still, I was already running late.

With all of the craze, I rushed up to my floor, opened the fridge to put my water bottle inside and then shut the door as I tried to lock it with my car key fob. I think I stood there for a good minute waiting for the fridge to beep at me until I realized what a ditz I was.

I had a lunch meeting today with a potential business client and did not intend to share my second life as a food blogger so the camera stayed at home.  Although, the girl I met was so cool and we really hit it off.  I actually ended up telling her about my blog and gave her the web address so maybe next lunch appointment, I won't feel so weird whipping out my point and shoot.

Anyways, we met at Cafe Magnolia where I ordered the most incredible salad.
Almond Encrusted Goat Cheese with strawberries, spinach, and a honey balsamic reduction. It was delectable, so much that I am going to try and recreate it for lunch tomorrow. Stay tuned!

Third mishap….

After a long day of work, I came home and changed for the gym.  I really wasn't feeling up for it tonight, but it was the only time I would be able to take Body Pump and I didn't want to miss the chance.

When I got there, I waited for the class to start on the ET to warm up.

After a 15 min warm up, I got my mats and bars ready and was set to begin.  But the instructor never showed.  She was running late and everyone complicated leaving (including me) but after 20 min, she finally came rushing in. I decided to stick it out but I really was feeling uninterested and a little irked.  I kind of wish I would have left because this class just wasn't a good one.  The vibe was just off and I never really got into it.  It almost felt like I wasn't really trying and just wasting time.  Has that ever happened to anyone?

Oh well, you win some you loose some!

I came home and tried to make up for all the mishaps with dinner.

Thank goodness food is usually a saving grace.

I heated up my last leftover Homemade Bean Burger and served it open face on a toasted Ciabatta Roll with pesto, spinach, tomato sauce, avocado, tomato, basil and a balsamic glaze.

This made everything better!

I also had some roasted broccoli.

So now I'm ready for this Tuesday to be over.  Tomorrow is another day!

  3. Today was my blah day too! I somehow cut my finger this morning and it was one of those shallow cuts that would not stop bleeding. I found bugs in my apartment when I went to make my smoothie and had to teach 6 periods with doubling-over cramps. AHH sorry lol for me and you both, I hope tomorrow is a Wonderful Wednesday!

  5. There are definitely some saving graces in my life :) I think Matilda is one of them!

Ahh yes the "blah" days. Those days just make me wonder lol. That is too cute though that you were waiting for the fridge to beep at you ;p I've done that at a stop sign.. waiting for it to turn green lol. Ohh my goodness I haven't have pineapple Chobani in AGES and I remember it being my favorite out of all of the Chobani flavors. And that peach bread... sounds sooo amazing!!! Where can I get my hands on some.. seriously lol. The salad sounds so good too. Lol as I'm commenting.. all of your eats seem like saving graces. Even down to the ciabatta roll m'mmm! As for the exercise class.. I get what you mean. I've had that happen and it really is like the expression "the elephant in the room". EVERYONE can sense it and it's just an icky feeling. I've had to walk out of those classes because I don't like to put myself through those situations lol.

XOXO hope tomorrow is better for you!

  7. Aw, sorry about your blah day...but it seems more like a blonde day. The story of you and the fridge made me crack up though, and hey, at least it made for a humorous, if not endearing, story!

  9. Sometimes I have those workouts where I feel like I am just going through the motions. However it's a better feeling knowing that you made it to gym and stuck with it as opposed to leaving or not even going at all.

Wishing you the best for Wed!

  10. I've actually done that, sat there with the FOB for my truck looking at the garage door wondering why it won't open, meanwhile my lights are flashing and what not cause I keep unlocking and locking my truck! Silliness. If I have a blah day I play with my dogs, they always cheer me up, I'll force myself to ask them if they'd like a walk, or to go to the park and they get so excited that I can't change my mind lol! Hope Wednesday is better : )

  12. I love that you tried to lock the fridge! LOL! Oh girl I've had so many days like that. I call them my "blah" days too because that's just how I feel, blah. I typically try and put the soymilk back in the cupboard where the glasses are instead of the fridge. I is smart. Ha!
