Blah Kind of Day

It's been a slow week.  Anyone else?

Work has actually been pretty uneventful.  It's probably good, because I really need to spend some time doing serious researching and developing, but I must say, I enjoy the days when I am on the go.  Sitting in the office for 3 days in a row starts to get exhausting.

Anyways, I've been coming home for lunch which has been nice.

Today, I wanted to test a new digestive method to see if my stomach would appreciate the approach of drinking my nutrients.

In the Blender went 2 handfuls of spinach, 1/2 frozen banana, 1/4 C pumpkin, 1 packet of Chocolate Amazing grass, 1/2 Cup almond milk, cinnamon, chia and maca

SIB (Smoothie in a Bowl)

Topped with Zoe's Granola and Pom Seeds.

I really can't feel satisfied without something to chew at a meal, however.  Does anyone else feel this way?  I understand that it's entirely possible to consumer your caloric needs and all of your nutrients in one big smoothie, but this chic needs to actually chew, swallow and repeat in order to be happy.

Which is why I made this to go along with my SIB…

1/2 english muffin with PB and Jam, carrots and hummus and grapes

Now that is more balanced!

The rest of the afternoon was pretty mundane.  I came home and rushed to the gym.  Even though I really didn't feel like going at the time, I told myself I would feel better with just 30 min of movement, and again, my conscious was right.

Since I wasn't able to finish my intended mileage this morning, I finished the plan by sprinting a mile and then hill walking for another mile.  I was actually just curious to see how fast I was able to run a mile on the treadmill and ended up doing it in 8:03.  Not bad, but I really think I run faster outdoors.

So some running, walking, and lifting was performed and I felt content.

Tonight was also one of those nights where I really didn't have an exact dinner in mind but I just craved so many random things.

What does one do in this situation?

Why, put everything in a bowl in the salad form of course!

On a bed of baby romaine, Grilled Apples, Grilled Red Onion, Roasted Brussels Sprouts, and 1/2 of a TJ's Apple Chardonnay Chicken Sausage (the only form of meat I will eat because I am convinced it's not real meat) with a big blob of hummus and dijon.

Roasted squash with glorious amounts of ketchup

So satisfied with everything in this meal.  It's exactly what I wanted and more.

I wish I had more exciting things to tell you, but sadly, that's about all I have.  Like I said, today was pretty blah.  Not bad, not good, just blah.

Well, I'm exhausted!  I was up at 3:45am with crazy stomach pains so I believe my bedtime will be coming early tonight.

<3 you all!

  2. Amen to the week needing to speed up. I think for me... the snow has just thrown things off and things are behind schedule and it's like... I just want to move forward already! I'm finally going to be able to have the critique for my video tomorrow--it kept being pushed back (and yesterday because classes were cancelled)

I am the same way with needing something to chew on to feel satisfied. Smoothies are more of a snack for me.

Running outdoors is a must for me lol I can't imagine running on a treadmill. Well, I can because I have hahaha but if I had a choice it would be without a doubt running outdoors. The ideal situation would be running on a rugged terrain. I love adventure and never having a dull moment because you are aware of where your next step or jump to a rock may be! hehehe.

:( I am all of out ketchup!!! I love the way you satisfied every craving. That reminds me of this way of eating called Ayurveda. Have you heard of it?? Actually, you know you should look into it because it may have some things that could help you with digestion. It also talks about hitting every type of flavor in a meal to feel more satisfied.

p.s. I'm so glad you've been enjoying the warm granola bowl of goodness! You're right. It's so simple but so good.

p.s.s. I'm going to catch up on your other posts so I can see this April meet-up you speak of ;) I would LOVE to come!!! And I think I would pee my pants and then die if I met you lol. For real though. You are such a sweetheart, so admirable, and your taste for life and food is just divine. You just need to live here. Scratch that--we move to Florida where it's always sunny :)

    Love you!!!

  5. I always feel like something is missing or I didn't eat if I drink a smoothie at mealtime. I love the addition of cereal and fruit to smoothies--it makes it crunchy and chew-able.

I would have had gobs of ketchup with my squash too but the ketchup supply was LOW at the dining hall---FAIL!!

  8. I don't like smoothies for that reason. I don't even like juice for that reason. I like to chew! I've got teeth, so I just wanna use it to bite and mangle something. lol.

  10. I see you share my love of ketchup!! :-)) And yeah--I don't feel satisfied unless I chew something either..Tried having smoothies as meals and they just don't cut it..I guess we humans just aren't meant to slurp our fruits, grains and veg through a plastic straw hehe...Until we lose our teeth in old age that is. :-P

  11. I love throwing leftovers or whatever is in the fridge atop a big salad, it always tastes so good and so satisfying. Grilled apples? I'm intrigued! I bet they would taste awesome with blue cheese.

  12. YES! to the Chew! Love to chew! :D And also, no matter how jam packed I make my smoothie it does not fill me up. I can't use that as a meal which is why I have it with salad and fruit. I get chew, more fiber, and a full bellah!
