Mad Face and A Product Review

Welcome to your week! Hopefully, everyone is off to an extraordinary start.

Mine is just splendid, with the exception of one little thing…..

I am swelling again!!!!!!!!
(This is my mad face!)

Yes, can you believe it? It’s been 2 ½ weeks and the right side of my face is still puffy. Luckily, I am not in any pain, but I think that this swelling may be a result of going off the steroids. I finished my last dosage on Sunday morning and I notice that after I eat, I get a little swollen on my right jaw. I’m guessing this is because the jaw is still not fully healed from the surgery and every time I put stress on the jaw, like from eating, it reacts. Or at least, I am praying to God that is what it is. I don’t think I could possibly take another set-back at this point. Please pray that’s all it is!

The week ahead is looking promising; nothing unusual on the agenda, just the norm. Toly and I will be celebrating our 6 year anniversary (since we’ve been dating) on Friday so we have a very exciting date planned for that!

I had the busiest day at work but it made the day fly by. Gotta love that on a Monday! I spent all morning running around like crazy, but thankfully, I had my Green Monster Smoothie drink to keep me going until my later than normal lunch. I posted about it here yesterday but tried it today for the first time. So, the verdict?

I loved it!

These smoothies are conveniently pre-made and sold in the organic section of most grocery stores. They come in a variety of flavors but I tried the Green Goodness flavor.

Check out the nutirional highlights: (Taken from www.bolthouse.com)
Bolthouse Farms Green Goodness starts with incredibly nutritious things like wheat grass, spirulina, spinach - even blue-green algae. Then we make it as delicious as it is healthy by adding apples, kiwis, mangos, bananas, pineapples and dragon fruit. It is a good source of iron and vitamin B6, naturally rich in vitamins A, C, and B12, and packed with powerful phytonutrients found in nature's most nutritious greens. The unique combination of 8 fruits and 14 powerful nutrients makes a drink that is packed with phytonutrients and rich in vitamins A, C, B12, and zinc. It is a natural source of potassium, maganese, thiamin and riboflavin, and is naturally fat and cholesterol free. With fresh fruit flavor unlike any on the market, you'll love it just for the taste.

Taste:
A! It was slightly less thick than a normal smoothie but definitely more dense than a juice. It was creamy and smooth and had distinct flavors of apple and kiwi with subtle hints of banana. I’m sure the other flavors taste just as good, but this one was quite delicious.

Cons:
My only con is that the sugar contents are a tad high, 27 grams per serving. But, I guess that is to be expected with the amounts of fruit concentrate. The fiber is also a little low, 1 gram, and I would have expected a slightly higher stat on this, but other than that, the nutritional stats are great.

Overall:
I drank a serving of this stuff throughout the morning and it kept my energy up and feeling fresh for hours. It also kept me feeling satisfied until lunch. I think these smoothie drinks are a great alternative to the infamous Green Monster and a great way of getting numerous amounts of vegetable servings and vitamins. The convenience is another bonus. If you are like me, and work full time, you may find it difficult to bring a blender to work and make your own monsters during the day when you need one the most. I love how I can buy a big bottle of this stuff, keep it at work, and fill up my cup whenever I need it. If you are in the market for a tasty, healthy smoothie blend, I highly recommend the Botlhouse Farm drinks.

Aside from my smoothie keeping my spirits up on this Monday, I also had another delightful dinner to look forward to.

On the menu:
Pistachio crusted Tilapia with Sautéed Kale, Mushrooms and Goat Cheese

This is actually a Robin Miller recipe that you can find here.

The only substitutions I made were kale for the chard, mushrooms for the prosciutto, and goat cheese for the gorgonzola.

I also made some basalmic, honey glazed roasted carrots for measure and color.

But Toly had a baked tater and peas and corn.....

Very delicious and comforting meal.
Well that's all for today. Keep your heads held high, it may only be Monday, but tomorrow is one step closer to weekend right?

  2. So sorry you're swelling again. What you said sounds plausible so it's probably that, and hopefully nothing big :) I'll send good thoughts your way.

    Your tilapia looks delicious!

  3. Yay for that smoothie being delicious! I will have to try it.

I am so sorry you are swelling--gosh, I know that is very frustrating because you cannot control it. Atleast you have no pain.

    Have a great day, doll!
